Emergency lighting gets you and your staff to safety in the event of an emergency.
Emergency lighting can be installed and certified by ETM as a safety net, in the event that your business premises needs to be evacuated in an emergency. Providing you with peace of mind that you have the correct tools in place should the worst happen.
Why is emergency lighting important?
Should your electrical system fail, your employees could face a difficult exit, risking possible injury, or even loss of life.
As an employer it is your responsibility to ensure that you have well maintained emergency lighting systems in place and to ensure they comply with current legislation.
As laid out in The Fire Precautions (workplace) Regulations 1997:
“Emergency routes and exits requiring illumination must be provided with emergency lighting of adequate intensity in case lighting fails.”
It is imperative that you choose a fully registered and established contractor to ensure that your installation is legal – protecting your staff from injury and your business from any legal claims that may arise as a direct result of an inadequate emergency lighting system.
What can you expect from ETM?
A typical emergency lighting test will consist of each circuit supplying emergency light being isolated in an attempt to establish that the battery in the emergency light fittings can keep all exits sufficiently lit in the event of power failure.
Unfortunately, there will be some periods whereby you will have to be without your lighting circuits. However, we are an experienced contractor that’s prepared to listen to your needs, and then create a schedule for working around them in order to keep you legal without affecting the running of your business.
Your Report Will Include:
The latter will require your attention to ensure compliance with current UK legislation and to protect you from legal liabilities resultant of negligence towards your emergency lighting system.
Following an inspection of an emergency lighting installation, ETM will issue a certification that will detail the specific nature of the inspection – along with any departures from BS5266 that may exist. We will also accompany our reports with a costing for carrying out any associated remedial work.
All certificates supplied by Electrical Test Midlands will clearly display our accreditation with the National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contractors (NICEIC) along with our enrolment number.
